No brakes??? How does that happen??

What???? Don't any of you have a scary car story worth sharing? Bet you do!!
HERE IS THE CAR I WAS DRIVING!! PRETTY BIG ISN'T IT??
Well now I have actually gotten over the shock of being totally out of control in a tank......I can tell you lovely ladies all about it!!! Has it ever happened to any of you??? I was running really late for church so Pete took the girls and went with somebody else and I had a shower jumped in the car and bolted. First corner, uuummmm clutch was a bit hard to push in, at the top of the hill I looked down and ALL the dash lights are on-oh oh-better pull over-NO BRAKES-now I am going DOWN the hill!!! doing 60 km/h okay handbrake as I am getting to the corner to turn, slows enough to turn, am amazed I didn't tip the car over, into school yard(where we hold church) shall I hit the car in the way or the tree.....Lets take the tree.....Oh thank God the handbrake stopped the car!!!! Missed the car and didn't hit the tree either!!! The problem you are all asking-no I didn't run out of brake fluid, the alternator belt broke, both the brakes and the clutch on our tank are power boosted!!! Peter drove it(slowly) home from church, the brakes are pretty useless without the booster working as he found out after berating me for complaining..... Was scary but turned out okay. Praise God, cause it could have been a lot worse!!! So lovely ladies tell me your scary car experience!
Kathie

Oh my! I'm sooo glad you are OK! That really must have been frightening. As for me, I can't think of a single event that was really scary...just lots of little events that probably add up to one enormous monster. lol! I guess the last thing was having a flat and no spare. I didn't even know my car didn't have a spare...thought it had to be in there somewhere. lol! Dumb, I know. I was suppose to have running flats, but didn't. Long story, but it unnerved me because I travel to and from Atlanta (190 miles) most weekends and I'm usually traveling late at night. I am now extra careful to check my tire pressure when traveling.

Kathie, how scary for you. I am so glad your okay. Praise God is right! Years ago I was the proud owner of a yellow comet. The police showed up at my parents with whom I was still living at the time. They wanted to see under the car, they were looking to see if my car had been involved in a hit and run accident. They took notes and left. My dad wanted to know what kind of trouble had I got myself into. I had not even gone anywhere! 3 weeks later the police came back to say it was not my car and they had caught the fellow. So that was my scary car experience....thinking gee, Dear Lord please help me to remember if I did it....It was the worst 3 weeks of my life. I was eighteen, and Not Guilty. All the best, cinner.

OK I'm back to tell my story.....some of you may remember a few years back a mini tornado hit Bendigo well that day me and the girls who were quite young at the time (Anna was in Kinda and Bella had started school) had gone out to a local sports club (I was involved with soccer at the time)wich is about 10 minutes drive away from my home it was a beautiful sunny day not a cloud in the sky..well after spending the day working in the canteen it was time to head home when saying good bye to a friend we noticed it was starting to cloud over like a storm was brewing well we both said quick goodbyes as we wanted to get home before the storm hit
Well we hadn't even got 500 metres down the road and driving rain was pouring down so I slowed right down as it was impossible to pull over as the sides of the road had turned into a raging river in minutes.. put the wipers on flat out and my lights on... by this time all I could see was the tail lights of a car in front of me I prayed that who ever was driving that car could see were they were going because I was following them where ever they were going..... at this point in the journy Bella says mum I think you need to put the wipers on faster cause I can't see out the windscreen.... I calmy tell her it's OK I can see we are going to be home real soon... still praying that who ever is in front of me can see where they are going as all I could see were 2 little tail lights in front of me by this time we were doing less that 10K's and driving through a river....all of a sudden on my left I see the shopping centre great I think I turn left here and we are almost home.....not happening... water was pouring out of the car park at a very rapid rate if I had turned left it would have been like driving up a water fall (I found out later the shopping centre was flooded)so I keep driving on following the tail lights in front of me by this time the water was more than half way up the tyres I had no chioce I had to keep driving as it would have been more dangerous to try and pull over...I needed to turn left to get home but every street on the left was pouring more water onto the main road I was driving on.... the cars engine would have been flooded if I tried..... Oh S*** the 5 way round about is up ahead I pray like I have never prayed before that I don't have to stop and give way to anybody because I just knew the car would stall if I had to give way..... and I would be stuck....get to the round about nothing coming not that you could really see... still following the tail lights in front of me drive through the round about heart is racing like mad by now still unable to turn left..drive on at a snails pace up a hill to the traffic lights by this time the rain had eased a little and I was able to see a little better.... traffic lights green and Carpenter ST is not a raging river... had plenty of water running along it but I could turn left ......can head in the direction of home now roads were flooded but not raging rivers can drive at almost 20K's now finally get home the girls and I are safe thank you God I'm thinking as I'm getting out the car look up and heres Chris with the garage doors open sweeping out water... our garage got flooded.....I don't know how long it took me to get home it seemed like hours but it most likely would have only been 30 minutes or so......well Kathie thats my scarey car story and I hope I never have another one to share with you.....oxo

oh wow thank goodness you are ok!! I would have freaked out completely! You are a quick thinker Kathie!!! I have a scary car story. Not long after I got my licence, I was on my P's and 17 years of age, I accidentally turned down the bus lane which is in the middle of the freeway. Don't ask me how I turned down the bus lane - I put it down to lack of experience!! I then lost control and my car spun out across 4 lanes of the freeway with oncoming traffic heading straight towards me! I quickly accelerated to the emergency lane but for a split second, when I looked up and saw cars heading straight for me, I thought I was going to die. The car was a write off - it was my first car. I was shaken up but pulled up ok after that! Needless to say, I was very aware of bus lanes after that experience :(
