The big freeze!!

Are you all thawed out yet??? Can not believe how cold it is this morning.....we got up early and were greeted by a blanket of white everywhere.....the poor chooks were shaking and the dogs wouldn't go outside.....our car was iced up and still had ice at 8.45 am, everywhere on the roof, front and back windows and on the ground around it where Pete had tried to de-ice it this morning at 5.00am when he had to go to work!!! Oh my that is really cold.......thankfully our second car is fixed and Pete didn't have to ride his bike to work this morning!! Now that would have been chilly, fingers iced to the handlebars :) even!! Tell us how you manage to stay warm.......
Keep warm girls, chat soon.

Awwww believe it or not I'm jealous of your frost!!! It brings back so many memories - We used to walk to school when I was in college and we'd walk out the door of our house in Railton after warming up under the shower only to have our hair freeze!!! It literally snap froze - to the point we could break it LOL I'm going to miss our Tassie frosty winters - as much as the more mild winter change will be nice, there's something poetic about your breath freezing when you're out in the crisp frosty morning :)

As for surviving the freeze, well it's not really that cold here (ok the locals tell me different hahaha) but our fire is already out for the day, it's a gorgeous sunny day here in the Mount... no freeze to survive here, but when it does get cold I love standing in front of the fire until all toasty warm and the heat forces you to move away :) Oh and lovely coffee or hot chocolate in hand of course ;)

OK - we all know that aint true. I have a nice hot shower, throw on my longjohns, big warm trackies, a tshirt and big old sweat shirt and have a nice warm cup of anything I can find....and then I find my little human hot water bottle (named Tori) and snuggle up to her!

The heating part of our split system decided to die this winter so we have no heating whatsoever so...my best friend this winter is my hot water bottle. It sits on my lap under my doona when I am watching tv.
Hope you have been able to warm up Kathie.

Up in the beautiful Gooram vally we have had heaps of rain and 0 deg3 mornings running - with both fires going non-stop for a couple of weeks now. It is so toasty inside but unfortunately we have to venture out to get the wood (just like Nicky).
Love winter and love cooking on wood stove.
Happy days everyone and stay warm.
